Our Story · Why Welayu
We built Welayu because we were done being let down.
Done with the infection that keeps coming back. Done with antibiotics that stop working. Done with doctors who shrug and a shelf full of supplements you can't even trust are real. If you've lived any of that in India, you already know why we're here. This is our story — and exactly how we're different.

Before the brand, there was the problem
If you've lived any of this, we built Welayu for you.
Welayu didn't start in a boardroom. It started the way it probably feels for you right now — exhausted, a little embarrassed, and quietly furious that something this common is this hard to actually fix.
It will not leave you alone. Two years. Three. The UTI that's back the week after the antibiotics finish. The yeast infection returning a fourth, fifth time. The bloating that shows up after "safe" food. A bladder that sends you running every ten minutes, where even peeing feels like a punishment.
The cure stops working — and wrecks you anyway. Course after course of antibiotics, until your body stops responding to them. And even when they work, they leave you drowsy, drained, wiped out — until you're not sure which you hate more, the infection or the treatment.
The doctors are guessing. A urine test and another antibiotic. "Try this and see if it helps." "Drink more water, wear cotton, wipe front to back." You leave the clinic knowing, deep down, that nobody has actually found the cause.
You've been told it's in your head. That it's "just stress." It isn't just stress. This is pain women rank above childbirth — and being made to feel dramatic on top of it is its own quiet insult.
It's shrinking your life in private. You plan the day around bathrooms. You dread intimacy. You skip the trip, the dinner, the plan — and you carry all of it alone, because who do you even tell?
And you can't even trust the fix. Is this bottle genuine or a marketplace fake? Is there any real dose inside? Are those reviews written by humans? So you overpay for an import you can't verify — or you give up and just live with it.
We lived that list. Not one line of it is a marketing exercise — it's the reason this company exists.
You know the drawer
Open any Indian bathroom drawer. We already know what's in it.
Because it's in ours too. Not one clean solution — a graveyard of half-used fixes, each one bought on a bad day, each one that worked for a week and then didn't. This is what "managing it" actually looks like:

The antacid stripENO, Digene, Pan-D — for the gut that never settles

Another antibiotic courseHalf-finished. The one that stopped working.

The isabgol tinFor a body that won't move on its own

Clotrimazole & antifungalsThe cream that clears it, until it's back

Cranberry & D-mannoseBought in hope, taken inconsistently

A shelf of probioticsDifferent brand each time. Still no answer.
Every one of these treats the flare. Not one of them asks why it keeps coming back. That's the entire problem — and it's where we decided to start instead.
Our story · Why we started Welayu
We couldn't watch the people we love keep losing to this.
Welayu didn't begin with a business plan. It began with two people, and one stubborn problem most Indians are too embarrassed to even name.
One of us spent almost three years watching a sister lose to recurrent UTIs. It started as "just a UTI." Then it came back. And back. She'd finish the antibiotics, feel human for a week, and the burning would return — the endless trips to the bathroom, the crying she thought no one could hear, pain she said was worse than anything she'd felt in her life. Every visit to the doctor ended the same way: a urine test, another course, "come back if it returns." It always returned. And slowly the medicines simply stopped working, while still leaving her too drained to get through the day.
Another of us knew the other half of it. After moving cities, our own gut fell apart, and the bathroom shelf filled with ENO, Digene, Pan-D and a tin of isabgol — the whole Indian ritual of managing a stomach that never settles. Between us, we had become very good at silencing symptoms, and had never once touched the cause.
What broke us wasn't the illness. It was watching her blame herself — for not drinking enough water, for being "too stressed," for somehow deserving it — when every doctor we saw was clearly just guessing.
Night after night, on PubMed instead of Instagram, we found the piece nobody had told us: these recurrences so often trace back to the gut — to biofilm reservoirs where bacteria hide from antibiotics and quietly rebuild. And we found two old ingredients studied for exactly that. Oregano's carvacrol, to go after the overgrowth. And kalonji — black seed, the same seed already sitting in our kitchen masala dabba — whose thymoquinone helps calm the terrain that lets it all come back. One to reduce. One to calm. For the first time, it felt like we were aiming at the root.
And then we hit the wall you already know. We had the ingredient — and couldn't find a product we trusted to buy it from. The "trusted import" on Amazon might be counterfeit. We couldn't verify the seller. Import duties nearly doubled the price. The Indian options buried the dose inside a "proprietary blend." We were educated, motivated, ready to pay — and still couldn't buy something honest for the people we loved. That was the moment Welayu stopped being an idea.
If the brand we needed didn't exist, we would build it — the way we wished someone had built it for us. Every dose printed on the front of the label, in milligrams. Every batch tested by an independent lab. No blends to hide behind, no bot reviews, no miracle claims. Just something you can actually verify, from people who have sat exactly where you're sitting.
That's Welayu. We would hand this bottle to our own families without a second thought — and that's the only test that has ever mattered to us.
What we're up against
The Indian supplement shelf is a trust crisis. You already know it.
It's not cynicism — it's what almost everyone who's shopped this category here has lived. Even careful, research-driven buyers end up saying the same thing: the market isn't regulated, and it can't be trusted. Five reasons, over and over:
1Fakes you can't verify
The same "trusted import" appears from ten sellers at ten prices, and you've no way to know which bottle is real. Buying your own health becomes a gamble on a courier.
2Hidden, underdosed formulas
"Proprietary blend." A long ingredient list, no milligrams. The oldest trick on the shelf — because if the dose were strong, they'd print it.
3Reviews written by bots
A thousand identical five-stars, not one honest one-star. When every review is perfect, none of them mean anything — and buyers know it.
4Miracle claims, zero proof
"Cures" everything, backed by nothing you can read. Big promises are cheap. Certificates of analysis and real citations are not.
5Nowhere to get a straight answer
Doctors are stretched, sellers are selling, influencers are paid. The person quietly suffering is left to self-diagnose at midnight.
That confusion is the product. The whole reason Welayu exists is to refuse to trade on it.
How we're different — our promises
Three rules we don't break, printed on everything we make.
Not a mission statement. Rules a stranger could check before trusting us with their body. These are them.
We print the dose.
The active, in milligrams, on the front of the label. Our flagship says it out loud: 165 mg carvacrol and 10 mg thymoquinone — the compounds that do the work, not just "oregano oil" and "black seed oil" with no number attached.
This one rule quietly disqualifies most of the shelf. If a brand could print a strong, standardized dose, they would. When they hide it in a blend, it's usually because there isn't much there to show.
We lab-test every batch — and we'll show you.
Third-party. Not our own lab — an independent one. Every production batch is checked to confirm the actives are present at the printed dose and the batch is clean.
Certificate of analysis available on request. "Lab tested" on a box is just two words. Proof you can actually hold is the point — so if you ask, you get it.
We build for the root, not the flare.
The reason these problems keep coming back is rarely where you feel them. Anyone can quiet a symptom for a week — that's the whole drawer. We formulate for the terrain underneath, which is why our first product pairs two actives that work together instead of chasing one.
It's also why the guarantee runs 90 days, not seven. Root-level change takes a real run, so we back a real run.
Three rules. They don't change from one product to the next — and every one is something you can verify before you decide to trust us.
The flagship as proof
Take our first formula. Every rule is visible in the bottle.
Oregano Oil + Black Seed Oil is built for exactly the recurring gut, urinary and intimate-health problems that never fully leave. Oregano's carvacrol goes after the overgrowth and the biofilm reservoirs that let it hide and rebuild. Black seed's thymoquinone — kalonji, trusted in Indian kitchens for generations — calms the terrain and supports the immune response around it.
One reduces. One calms. The dose is printed. The batch is tested. And because raw oregano oil can burn on the way down and taste like petrol, we made it a measured, buffered softgel you take with food — the strength, without the reason most people quit by day three.
The anti-promises
Here's what you'll never get from us.
Trust is built as much by what a brand refuses to do as by what it promises. So here's our line in the sand.
No hidden doses
If it's an active, it's on the label in milligrams. No "proprietary blend" to hide behind. Ever.
No bot reviews
Real, verified buyers and real names — and we don't quietly delete the honest one-stars. You get the full picture.
No miracle claims
We won't promise to "cure" anything. We'll tell you what the research does and doesn't show, and let you decide like an adult.
No subscription traps
Buy what you want, when you want. Nothing to cancel, no forgotten renewal draining your account next month.
No "imported, so just trust us"
Made in India, [FSSAI licensed, GMP facility], and verifiable — because imported and authentic are two completely different words, and you've paid for that lesson before.
What we're actually here for
None of this is really about a bottle.
The label, the dose, the tests — that's how we earn the right to be trusted. But it isn't the point. The point is the ordinary life this quietly steals, and the version of it you're trying to get back:
→Eating without a plan
Ordering what you actually want, not the one "safe" dish — and not scanning for the nearest bathroom before you sit down.
→A body that isn't a countdown
Not bracing for the next flare, the next course, the next time it returns the moment life gets stressful.
→Intimacy without dread
Not flinching at closeness because you're quietly terrified of what it sets off two days later.
→Finally trusting what you take
Opening the bottle without the doubt. Knowing what's in it, knowing it was checked, knowing you didn't get played.
That's the outcome we're building toward. The transparency is just how we make it believable.
Where this goes
This is the first bottle, not the last.
Welayu is building a small, deliberate line of root-cause formulas — same three rules, same honesty — for the problems Indians actually struggle with and can't get a straight answer on. Gut. Urinary. Immunity. The quiet, recurring things people suffer with in private.
We'd rather make a few products you can trust completely than a shelf full of ones you can't. If that's the kind of brand you've been looking for, come along for what's next.
First access and founding-batch pricing on what's next. No spam — you already get enough of that.
Don't take our word for it. Read the label.
That's the entire pitch. Everything we've told you here, you can check for yourself — the dose, the tests, the reviews, the ingredients, the guarantee. No bet this time. Start with the formula we built first.
